Interpret seeks to serve the faithful preacher of any church size or stage.

It seeks to serve the pastor who…

  • believes that preaching is central, but (understandably) finds it a struggle; for them, preaching is fulfilling yet at times quite frustrating
  • gets to Sunday morning and feels discouraged because their prep time was neither enough nor all that effective
  • wants to sharpen their skills at both (i) seeing more of what’s actually there in the text and (ii) addressing contemporary “hot button” issues
  • or would benefit from occasional consults when either (i) preaching on difficult texts or topics or (ii) in the midst of a particularly busy season.
This is what Interpret Consulting is all about.

Who are we?

Led by Dr. Bruce Clark (PhD. in biblical studies, University of Cambridge), Interpret enlists a variety of both (i) experienced pastors from a spectrum of church traditions and ministry contexts and callings and (ii) excellent professors from an assortment of fields (biblical studies, theology, church history, classical and Semitic languages, and philosophy). All of them have huge hearts and humble minds and are eager to help those on the “frontlines” of vocational ministry–namely, preachers serving churches of any size or stage.

Interpret‘s goal is to provide ongoing training (i.e., OJT) for the busy, faithful preacher, sharpening their skills of biblical and cultural “exegesis” while saving them time. We seek to sharpen these skills in a way that is both simple and Spirit-filled. We help preachers tackle texts and topics that are (understandably) intimidating, equipping them each week with additional tools for their “interpretive” toolbox.

Importantly, Interpret doesn’t write or research sermons. Rather, we refine skills.

Finally, Interpret seeks to offer insight into God’s Word and our world in a way that is rooted in Scripture while respectful of a preacher’s particular theological tradition (or denominational affiliation). Interpret‘s own theological perspective is in accord with the Statement of Faith of the Langham Partnership.
